COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The last 'official' days of summer are going to bring us one of the hottest stretches of the season with highs expected to be in the mid to upper 90s through the weekend! The hottest stretch of days will likely be Wednesday and Thursday as our forecast remains mostly dry. I'm including a slight chance of showers each day through Sunday to account for a rogue shower or storm on any given afternoon or evening, but most will stay dry, hot, and muggy.
As we head into the first part of next week, the weather pattern will shift a bit with more clouds streaming over the area and the risk for more rain. I’ve taken the rain coverage up to 30-40% for Monday through next Wednesday with Wednesday featuring the best chances. Highs should drop back to the upper 80s and lower 90s, still above average for this time of year. It looks like the chance of any big cool-down is at least 10-14 days away, well on the fringe of the long-range forecast.
