Car crashes into Denny’s restaurant in Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus police and firefighters responded to a car accident in Columbus Monday night.

The accident happened shortly after 9:00 p.m. at the Denny’s restaurant on Macon Road. The driver of a white Honda Accord crashed into the side of the restaurant.

According to accident reports, there were three people in the vehicle when it crashed. The 21-year-old driver, a 20-year-old passenger and a 5-month-old child. All were taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional for treatment, but the extent of their injuries has not been confirmed.

The accident report also says the vehicle was in the parking lot of the McDonald’s on Macon Rd., which is next door to the Denny’s, when it exited the roadway and drove into the east facing wall of Denny’s, causing a significant amount of damage to the building and outer cooler.

The safety seat of the 5-month-old child was reportedly not restrained to the seat of the vehicle.
