Three Meriwether Co. stores raided for improperly using gambling machines

WOODBURY, GA (WTVM) - Three stores in Meriwether County are coming under fire for improperly using certain gambling machines.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation executed the search warrants, with the assistance of the Georgia Lottery Corporation, the Georgia Department of Revenue and the Woodbury Police Department at:

  • Two Stop (also known as Fuel Stop) at 10966 Millarden Rd.
  • Woodbury Citgo at 18608 Main St.
  • Rana’s Tobacco Outlet at 11011 Millarden Rd.

According to police, the businesses were operating Coin Operated Amusement Machines (COAMS) that allowed customers to receive cash payouts for winning credits.

In the state of Georgia, credits won using COAMS may only be redeemed for lottery tickets or merchandise at that location.

During the search, officers collected evidence of commercial gambling and seized assets gained from the gambling activity.

No arrests have been made, but police say they are pending.
