SMITHS STATION, AL (WTVM) - WoodmenLife insurance company served lunch to first responders and community members Wednesday in Smiths Station.
It’s been one month since a tornado struck East Alabama and recovery efforts continue.
Chapter volunteers and local WoodmenLife sales representatives smoked Boston butt and grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for first responders and the public. The event took place at the Smiths Station Fire and Rescue station.
"Today, we are actually doing a barbeque. We have hamburgers and hot dogs for all of our first responders in the Lee County and Russell County areas," said Ricky Thornton, a representative from WoodmenLife Chapter 38.
WoodmenLife is a nonprofit and was founded in 1980. The organization gives back to its nearly 700,000 members across the United States who join together in a shared commitment to family, community, and country.
