UPDATE: Columbus man arrested for child molestation, fired from MCSD as substitute teacher

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Columbus man arrested on charges of child molestation has been terminated from his role as a substitute teacher with the Muscogee County School District.

Alexander Letwond White, 35, was arrested Tuesday, April 16 and is charged with felony sexual assault person in custody, child molestation, and enticing a child for indecent purposes.

MCSD says the allegations that White was accused of sexual misconduct with a student were brought to them on Apr. 16 and he was subsequently terminated.

Their statement said, in part, “The District considers allegations of this nature with immense gravity and will continue to work cooperatively with law enforcement. The case remains under investigation with the Columbus Police Department.”

White appeared in Recorder’s Court on Wednesday, April 17 at 2 p.m., but his case was bound over to Superior Court and bond was not set.
