LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) - A ceremony was held Wednesday in LaGrange in efforts to stop child abuse.
The event was hosted by Twin Cedars Youth and Family Services Inc.
Community leaders, stakeholders, and residents came out to support. Keynote speaker Alan Cook, director of the Prosecutorial Clinic Program at the University of Georgia Law School, spoke on ways to combat child abuse and how to help others.
“As awful as child abuse is, it is a good sign that we have a number of cases, whether it’s sexual abuse or physical abuse or neglect because that means the members of the community and all these agencies are creating awareness,” said District Attorney John Cranford. It’s resulting in people reporting these crimes and people doing something about it.”
After the ceremony, butterflies were released followed by a short reception.
