AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - A legendary pitcher is stepping off the baseball diamond and into the classroom.
More than 20 years after beginning classes at Auburn University, Tim Hudson is re-enrolling with his sights set on finishing the degree he never completed.
The 43-year-old father of three is majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on philanthropy and health promotion.
He says the most challenging part of coming back to school was logging onto the WiFi and figuring out how to do a PowerPoint presentation, a task he had to enlist his daughters for.
Hudson says that in his time off, he lost a few credits, so he expects to complete his degree in about a year.
“I’m excited to get it under my belt, get that paper on the wall and be a good example to my kids,” Hudson said in a video posted by Auburn Baseball.
Hudson made his MLB debut in 1999 with the Oakland Athletics before moving to the Atlanta Braves in 2005 where he spent the majority of his baseball career.
He retired in 2015, while playing for the San Francisco Giants.
