4 sentenced in 2016 murder of elderly Meriwether Co. woman

MERIWETHER COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - Four defendants have been sentenced this week in the murder of an elderly Meriwether County woman.

All defendants are charged with the murder of Dorothy “Dot” Dow of Grantville, Georgia who was brutally beaten and burned during a home invasion in August 2016.

One defendant Mina Ellery, previously pleaded guilty and has already been transferred to the Georgia Department of Corrections to serve her sentence.

Angela Latrice Harmon

  • First degree burglary - 20 years to serve concurrent with other charges
  • Felony murder - life sentence
  • Aggravate assault -5 years merged with murder count
  • Home invasion - 20 years concurrent with murder count

Justin Pierce Grady

  • Malice murder - life without parole
  • Armed robbery - life (Concurrent)
  • Home invasion - 20 Years (Concurrent)
  • Aggravated battery - 20 Years (Concurrent)

Cortavious Deshun Heard

  • Malice murder - Life without parole
  • Armed robbery - Life without parole (Concurrent)
  • Home invasion - 20 Years (Concurrent)
  • Aggravated battery - 20 Years (Concurrent)

“I am pleased with the outcome of the sentences related to these case investigations and that the victim’s family was satisfied in justice being served. Although these sentences will never replace their love one, Mrs. “Dot” Dow, that was lost in this senseless horrific crime,” Sheriff Chuck Smith.
