Multiple roads close in Troup, Lee Counties after servere flooding

Storm leaves behind washed out roads and downed trees in Troup County

(WTVM) - Several roads in Troup County and Lee County have been closed after a morning of severe weather across the Chattahoochee Valley.

The following roads are closed due to extensive flooding and/or fallen trees:

LEE COUNTY

  • Lee Road 146 between Highway 169 and Lee Road 166
  • Lee Road 179 at Lee Road 246
  • Lee Road 318 (near the 3400 block)
  • Lee Road 379 (near the long bridge)
  • Lee Road 537
  • Lee Road 198 (dirt portion, off Lee Road 175)
  • Lee Road 747 off of Lee Road 179 (has been washed out)

  • Flat Shoals Church Road near 503
  • Wright Road
  • Salem Chipley Road at Turkey Creek
  • Finney Road at Polecat Creek
  • Bill Taylor Road at 505 and 646
  • South Thompson Bridge
  • New Franklin Road near Arby’s
  • Northwoods Drive at Bailey Way
  • North Davis Road at Gardner Newman Middle School
  • Ford Drive near 120
  • Salem Road
  • Rock Mills Road near Antioch Road

  • CR54 at Glover Road

Officials say the overflow of water has damaged many local roads and even completely washed out or destroyed others. GDOT officials are currently working to make sure that affected roads are properly assessed and marked as safe before they are reopened to drivers.
