COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - On Saturday, job seekers from across the Valley gathered at the Faith Worship Center for a special Community Resource Fair.
Organizers say the purpose of the event was to connect community businesses and job seekers. The goal was to help “increase workplace appeal” for attendees by giving them first-hand tips and information from local hiring companies.
During the event, people had the chance to hear from several of Columbus’ largest nonprofit agencies and businesses. The groups gave inside tips on what types of new hires employers are looking for in today’s job market.
The event featured companies like; 211, Synovus, Together Work, Columbus Tech, and Goodwill.
The event wrapped up with a live panel discussion from area Human Resources personnel. The first hour of the discussion focused on the various community resources available for job seekers such as Goodwill, United Way, and Columbus Tech. The second hour focused on what recruiters look for in interviewees and new hires as well as skills required for various job sectors.
