COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Hundreds gathered at Lake bottom Park in Columbus this Easter weekend for a festive family event: The 5th annual Muscogee County Sheriff’s office Easter Egg Roll!
The event included over 10,000 candy-packed Easter eggs that were rolled out every 30 mins for kids of all ages. The event also featured a number of other Easter themed attractions, games, and bounce houses for attendees to enjoy.
And another special treat: a dance contest between the Chick Fil A Cow, Leo- the Columbus Lions Mascot, and the Easter Bunny.
However, the event was more than just fun. It also helped a good cause: raising autism awareness and education in the area.
The event also served as a fundraiser for Project Lifesaver, which provides equipment and armbands for autistic children who are prone to wandering, so they can be easily located and returned. Organizers had Project Lifesaver demonstrations and registrations set up for anyone in need of the life saving bracelet.
Organizers say another great thing about this event is that it gives the community the opportunity to meet and interact with the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office Deputies in a fun and relaxed environment.
Many other sponsors, partners, and vendors helped to make the event possible. Some of those local organizations and businesses included; Amerigroup, PBA, Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office, PTAP, Zaxby’s, Autism Hope Center and many more.
