COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The parking lot was packed and the people were pouring in for Cascade Hill’s 5th annual Easter Service at the Columbus Civic Center this morning.
It’s Cascade Hills Church’s biggest event of the year and leaders say they’ve been preparing for months. The over 400 volunteers involved have done everything from put out signs to organizing logistics to childcare.
Church leaders say over 10,000 people showed up for the service on Easter Sunday morning.
Church leaders say the real draw for people coming to the event is the welcoming atmosphere which can make even those who don’t regularly go to church feel right at home.
"We always say we're the church for the unchurched. So we're not going out trying to get other church members. We want people who don't go to church to feel comfortable and feel loved here."
Church leaders say they hope people walk away from the experience today feeling welcomed and uplifted.
