COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Columbus murder trial will go to a jury on Wednesday.
Closing statements were delivered Tuesday in the shooting death of Robert Lockhart. Lockhart was killed in 2017 at a home on Grant Road in Columbus.
The defense maintains that Eddie Clayton shot Lockhart in self defense after he wouldn’t leave a birthday party at the home.
The state claims that Clayton never called police for help in protecting his property. The state also said the crime scene was cleaned before officials could investigate.
The judge sent the jury home Tuesday and said deliberations will begin Wednesday at 9 a.m.
