Kiwanis Club presents Safe Kids Columbus with $5K check to support water safety

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Kiwanis Club of Columbus gave a donation to Sake Kids Columbus to support water safety in the region.

The Kiwanis Club presented Safe Kids a partnership check for $5,000 on Tuesday. In addition to the check presentation, Safe Kids discussed their 2nd annual River Savvy Kids Free Life Jacket event as part of this year’s Kids Palooza.

“It gives people an opportunity to come out and spend a few hours before the weather gets super hot,” said Holli Browder, director for Columbus Parks and Recreation. “Come out and enjoy yourself and do a lot of good things in the community. And just one step of that is the Life Jacket program, where they will be able to learn some things, learn some things that are safety-based, not only for the parents but also for the kids. We want the kids to have that one-on-one to be a part of knowing what they can do to help themselves.”

The Kids Palooza takes place May 11 on the 14th Street Pedestrian Bridge in Columbus.
