COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Let’s Grow STEAMx youth college and careers expo returned to Columbus for the fourth year.
The expo took place at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center on Thursday.
The event focuses on creating life-changing experiences through increased awareness of STEAM. It also encourages students to become more involved in STEAM-related activities and to begin thinking about pathways that lead to STEAM-related degrees and careers.
“One of things we do through the education council is provide in-classroom opportunities, but then also bringing them into TSYS to show them the way that we do business,” said Ben Watson, director of IT at TSYS. “They get to work with some of our individuals there but then on top of that, we get to introduce them to code and the other things that are technologically driven in the classroom.”
The theme of this year’s expo was SCI-Tech. Creating a Successful Future will highlight the skills associated with careers in science and technology fields. The next expo will be held October 10.
