NASHVILLE, TN (WSFA) - After having no players selected in Thursday’s first round and just one player in Friday’s second and third rounds, the Auburn Tigers saw five of their former players taken on the 2019 NFL Draft’s final day.
On Saturday, former Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham was the first name off the board for the Tigers. He’ll have the opportunity to watch arguably the greatest quarterback the game has ever seen as he was taken in the 4th round at 133rd overall by the New England Patriots.
Next was wide receiver Darius Slayton who was taken in the 5th round (171st ovrerall) by the New York Giants.
Senior linebacker and leader of the defense DeShaun Davis was taken with the 210th pick by the Cincinnati Bengals. H-back Chandler Cox went in the 7th round (233rd overall) to the Miami Dolphins, and two picks later defensive lineman Dontavious Russell (235th overall) was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Jamel Dean was the first Auburn player to be taken in this year’s draft, taken 94th overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday.
