COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Former Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson has officially announced that she will be running for a seat on the United States Senate in 2020.
Tomlinson’s announcement comes courtesy of a campaign video she released on Twitter.
In the video, Tomlinson lays out her qualifications, saying why she thinks she could make a difference in Washington, D.C.
“As your next Senator, I will bring fearless, tireless service to the U.S. Senate in order to ensure the government works better for everyone in Georgia,” she states in her announcement.
The announcement comes one day after former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams stated she would not be seeking the Democratic nomination in the same Senate race.
Tomlinson served as mayor of Columbus for two terms before Skip Henderson took over in 2019.
