COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus police have arrested four people for providing alcohol to minors after an undercover sting.
Officers with the Special Operations Unit conducted compliancy checks at multiple businesses on May 2 by providing an underage informant with $5 to attempt to purchase an alcoholic beverage.
On four occasions, the informant was able to successfully purchase an alcoholic beverage and return it to an undercover officer in an unmarked police car.
The following people were arrested after not checking the informant’s driver’s license while trying to purchase an alcoholic beverage.
- 49-year-old Thirumala Sadyam was arrested at the 76 Gas Station on Floyd Rd.
- 57-year-old Ervin Johnson was arrested at the Crown Gas Station on South Lumpkin Rd.
- 20-year-old Lakaysha Edmonds was arrested at the Circle K on Fort Benning Rd.
- 25-year-old Priyank Kumar Chaudhari was arrested at the BP Gas Station on Buena Vista Rd.
- 63-year-old Virod Kumar
- 33-year-old Vishal Patel
Each is facing charges of furnishing minors with alcohol.
Sadyam, Johnson and Edmonds have since been released from the Muscogee County Jail, but Chaudhari is also being held for I.C.E.
