COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Muscogee County School District showed appreciation Friday to teachers and crossing guards of Rigdon Road Elementary School.
For nearly 10 years, the teachers and crossing guards have gone above and beyond by walking students home to ensure their safety. The teachers and crossing guards were presented with multiple gifts and a cake in front of the entire faculty and students.
The teachers of Rigdon Road said they are only doing what they feel is right.
“Well I would like to thank everybody,” said LaTonya Leonard, a teacher at Rigdon Road Elementary. “We really did not know anyone was watching the things that we were doing, and it’s just nice to always know. Do what you’re supposed to do, you never know who’s looking. That’s what we tell the kids all the time.”
Friday marked the final day of Teacher Appreciation Week.
