PLAINS, Ga. (WTVM) - Former President Jimmy Carter is recovering after a fall that caused him to break his hip, but his recovery is not his main concern.
The 94-year-old former president was preparing to go turkey hunting on May 13 when he fell at his Plains, Ga. home and broke his hip, according to a tweet from The Carter Center.
He is currently recovering from surgery at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus.
His surgeon stated that his surgery was a success.
President Carter, on the other hand, still has his mind on the same thing he started the day off with: turkey hunting.
Turkey hunting season in Georgia is set to reach its end for the year this week and President Carter says he has not yet reached his limit on the number of birds he can hunt. He is hoping the state will allow him to rollover his unused limit to next year.
