COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - A Columbus man accused of repeated of child molestation made his first appearance in court on Monday.
33-year-old Daniel Eric Conley was arrested Friday and charged with 10 counts of felony child molestation.
New details in the disturbing case were brought to light in court on Monday. Police say the victim is 16 years of age now but that the alleged abuse started about 5 years ago when victim was around 11 years old.
The abuse was reportedly witnessed by a third party who saw Conley place his hand on the victim’s inner thigh. Upon witnessing the abuse the third party later asked the victim if she was okay and if any type of abuse was going between she and Conley.
The victim initially denied the abuse but later confided in a friend. The friend then went to a teacher and the school contacted authorities.
The case was bound over to Superior Court and no bond was set. The court also ruled that accused cannot have contact with the victim in the meantime.
