Three, including fugitive, arrested in Troup Co. for trafficking meth

TROUP COUNTY, Ga. (WTVM) - Three people, including a fugitive, have been taken into custody in Troup County on multiple drug charges.

On Apr. 19, GBI agents executed a search warrant at the home of 38-year-old James Elvin Cook in Heard County, Ga. before he lead them onto a pursuit into Alabama, at which times officers discontinued their pursuit, making Cook a fugitive from justice.

On May 9, agents received information from the Troup County Sheriff’s Office and were able to confirm Cook’s presence inside a West Point home.

Inside the home, they found Cook and a kilogram of methamphetamine, fentanyl and a handgun.

Cook was taken into custody and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violation of parole.

38-year-old Billy Lumuel “BJ” Tyson and 39-year-old Misty Leigh Perry were also arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine. Both are being held in the Troup County Jail.
