COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Mercer University School of Medicine is adding a new campus in Columbus.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Friday in the Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce grand lobby to celebrate the new campus.
Columbus Mayor Skip Henderson, Mercer University President William Underwood and Dr. Jean Summer, dean of Mercer University School of Medicine, were all in attendance.
“This is a real victory for a partnership between the community, this institution, and the state of Georgia because it was a partnership of all three that made today possible,” said David Ralston, speaker of the house.
Mercer will open its school of medicine campus in downtown Columbus. The first class will arrive in August 2021.
