NFL player, Columbus native hosts ‘Cars and Coffee’ event for mental health awareness

Guest Segment: Cars and Coffee

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - A Columbus native who has made his way to the big leagues in football is returning to his hometown to help raise awareness for mental health.

Offensive Tackle for the Cleveland Browns and former Carver High School Tiger Chris Hubbard is hosting a Cars and Coffee Rally.

The rally will let those in attendance enjoy some coffee while taking in the sight of some classic cars in the Chattahoochee Valley all while raising awareness and funds for the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Hubbard says this cause is important to him because he has witnessed several peers and family members suffer with mental illness.

He says his goal is to "just bring it to everyone’s attention that you’re not the only one that’s going through it and your voice can be heard.”

The event begins at 7:00 a.m. at PTAP on Veterans Pkwy. and lasts through 10:00 a.m. They will then drive the classic cars to Atlanta in an attempt to raise awareness.

All proceeds raised from the event go to NAMI>
