COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The heat continues to be the big story as we take you through the middle and end of the week with low to mid 90s on Wednesday and mid to upper 90s on Thursday and Friday. Skies will generally stay mostly sunny to partly cloudy with a chance of rain that will be too small to mention. Friday and our Memorial Day weekend will feature the potential for record-breaking heat with upper 90s and lower 100s in our neck of the woods - once again, with mostly sunny skies and little in the way of any showers or storms. The heat index values will be higher, which means heat advisories may be considered for parts of our area over the holiday weekend. The heat will back off a little bit by Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, but we still have above average temperatures in our forecast.
