Auburn officer injured in deadly shooting reunites with K9

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Officer Webb Sistrunk was one of two officers injured in a deadly shooting in Auburn just days ago and is still in the hospital, but was able to be reunited with one fellow officer.

Officer Sistrunk, an eight-year veteran of the Auburn Police Department, works daily with K9 Leon, including the day of the shooting that left him injured.

During the shooting that claimed the life of Officer William Buechner and also injured Officer Evan Elliott, Leon was shot at, but was not injured.

Today, Leon got to have a reunion with Officer Sistrunk in his hospital room.

Officer Sistrunk was shot in the right shoulder and suffered a critical injury before being airlifted to Piedmont Columbus Regional for treatment. He is currently listed in critical condition, according to Auburn police.

Officer Sistrunk’s family thanks everyone for their continued prayers for our officer and asks that you keep the Buechner and Elliott families in your prayers as well.
