VALLEY, Ala. (WTVM) - The City of Valley is receiving a major economic boost with the groundbreaking of Four Star Freightliner.
Four Star Freightliner is the southeast’s leading medium and heavy-duty truck dealer that offers a complementary line of Freightliner, FUSO, and Western Star brand trucks for highway and recreational use.
Last summer, the Valley City Council approved the contracts between the city and the company. The contract approved an access road along with water, sewer, and natural gas service to the site.
The site must also have electricity, phone, cable TV, and internet service.
"Well, we're very excited to be on our seventh location and we're so excited to be coming here to Valley,” said Jerry Kocan, dealer principal at Four Start Freightliner.
"Our sales tax is up $213,000 just last year. It was up by about $270,000 the first part of this year so the City of Valley is really doing well. We've taken off and we've got good revenue coming in and we're growing,” said Valley Mayor Leonard Riley.
Four Star Freightliner currently has a site in Tallahassee, Florida and is building another one in Valdosta, Georgia.
