EUFAULA, Ala. (WTVM) - A man and woman from Albany, Georgia were taken into custody in Eufaula after a traffic stop led to police finding large amounts of drugs in the vehicle.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on Veterans Pkwy. in Eufaula on a vehicle with 25-year-old Dontavious Sherrell Calloway and 23-year-old Nyasia Monique Telfair and two juveniles, ages one and three, inside.
The May 20 traffic stop led to the seizure of 224 grams of methamphetamine, six grams of heroin and several firearms.
Both Calloway and Telfair were arrested and taken to the Eufaula City Jail to await a bond hearing.
Officers contacted the Barbour County Department of Human Resources to take care of the children in the vehicle.
Calloway is facing a laundry list of charges, including:
- Trafficking methamphetamine
- Trafficking heroin
- Two counts of chemical endangerment of a child
- Two counts of reckless endangerment
- Attempting to elude
- Second degree attempted assault
- Certain persons forbidden to possess
Telfair is facing charges of trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking heroin and two counts of chemical endangerment of a child.
The arrests were made through a joint effort by the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force, Eufaula Police Department, Houston County Sheriff’s Department, Enterprise Police Department and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department.
