COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Our heat wave really gets into swing on Friday with highs in the mid 90s in most spots and upper 90s down to the east and south. Saturday through Tuesday will still feature the core of the heat with upper 90s and low 100s the rule for just about everyone. Sunday and Memorial Day, we have the hottest temperatures in the forecast (100), so make sure you are prepared if you have holiday plans that take you outdoors. There may be a system that approaches by the middle of next week that could bring a few showers to the area by Thursday, and the heat should back off to the low and mid 90s by then - but I would caution that when we get in a long stretch of hot weather, sometimes it is difficult for computer models to resolve that kind of information this far out. Stay tuned!
