Columbus ordinance increases fine for being too close to the river

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - To help keep people safe, Columbus city councilors passed a new ordinance to increase the fine for being in or too close to the river.

The fine has increased to $200 from the previous amount of $25.

If you are between the 13th Street and Dillingham Bridge, you must have a life jacket on if you’re between 15 feet of the water.
