Department of Public Health vaccinating kids a month before school begins
Immunization against some of the most contagious diseases should start at birth, according to the CDC.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - As summer break begins to wind down, now is the time to make sure your kids have the vaccines they will need for school.

Your child may be required to get specific immunizations or have certain exams done, especially if you are new to the public school system in Georgia.

Pre-K, Kindergarten and any students new to the Muscogee County School District will be required to have vision, hearing, dental and nutrition screenings.

Students entering the seventh grade are also required to have several vaccinations.

No appointment is necessary for immunizations, but the West Central Health District offices will be closed, Friday, July 12. They will reopen on Monday, July 15.
