Retired Ft. Benning Col., Chamber of Commerce VP passes away

FORT BENNING, Ga. (WTVM) - The Fort Benning and Columbus communities are mourning the loss of a retired Fort Benning Colonel.

Ret. Col. Gary Jones recently passed away after 28 years of Army service. After exiting the military, he served as Vice President of Military Affairs for the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce.

Fort Benning released a statement saying,

Fort Benning is deeply saddened by the loss of a great American. Retired Col. Gary Jones spent a lifetime serving our country and our community. His dedication to the strong partnership between Columbus and Fort Benning is unmatched and he will surely be missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
