COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - With the developing news surrounding the disappearance of Aniah Blanchard and seemingly so many other missing persons reports, WTVM is looking into ways to help you stay safe.
A feature on your iPhone called Emergency SOS can potentially help you in threatening situations. You can use this feature to contact emergency services, play an emergency alert, and notify your emergency contacts of your location and that you’ve contacted emergency services. To enable this feature, you can go to your settings and click on Emergency SOS. From there, you have the option to choose which features you’d like to use.
Jarret Butcher, a Columbus Wireless Communications sales representative, says that these features help the police get to your loved ones right away.
“If your grandma has fallen, she can send out an SOS and the police will get there. Or, if someone is about to get attacked, or even if you feel like you’re having a heart attack. It’s just important so the police can get to you right away.”
