COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The Columbus City Council unanimously passed a vote to rename the Citizens Service Center in honor of a longtime former Columbus City Councilor.
Red McDaniel died five years ago while still in office. He served from 1982 to 2014, representing the Midtown district.
“Red McDaniel was a long, long time servant of this community," said Columbus Mayor Skip Henderson. "He’s just a great guy. He’s very unique, great sense of humor, committed to the public. So, I can’t think of a better facility to have his name on it than one that honors service to the citizens of this community. He is missed and he was quite a guy.”
Henderson said a ceremony will be held in honor of McDaniel in the near future.
