Columbus businesswoman, Miracle Riders surprise kids at Piedmont Columbus Regional with holiday gift

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Kids at Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital’s Midtown campus got a special gift on Tuesday.

Businesswoman and former owner of the Columbus Cottonmouths, Wanda Amos and the Miracle Riders visited the hospital for their annual toy giveaway.

“Wanda said round up the troops and here we are. We’re all here to support her,” said Scott Ressmeyer of the Miracle Riders.

This is the Miracle Riders’ third year helping Amos with her toy giveaway at the Children’s Hospital. She said she’s hosted the giveaway for 13 years.

“It’s just something I love to do. I buy the toys and it just gives me great pleasure to do this,” Amos said.

Ressmeyer said he’s happy to spread holiday cheer to sick kids.

“Sick kids a lot of times, they’re in there and they’re not really sure what their surroundings are, and what the next hours going to bring, or what the nurses are going to do when they come in there," Ressmeyer said. "So, you know, they’re nervous about that and if we can go in there and bring a little bit of laughter and a little bit of joy for five minutes, that’s a Christmas present back to us.”
