PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A Philadelphia father who claimed a home invader killed his son is now facing charges in connection to the 4-year-old’s death.
The Philadelphia Police Department is still investigating the matter but said the father faked the home invasion.
Edward Williams, 28, was arrested for involuntary manslaughter after he initially said his son was fatally shot during a break-in.
Williams is facing charges that include reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence, obstruction of justice and also drug charges.
The wounded boy was found in an upstairs room, but he was unresponsive and was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Williams was prohibited from having a gun due to his prior criminal history, WCAU reports.
Police initially found no signs of forced entry or a struggle to get inside the home.
Williams and the two young children were in the house, but the children’s mother was at work.
