MACON, COUNTY, Ala. (WTVM) - A Salem woman is dead and firefighter is injured after a three-vehicle accident in Macon County, Ala.
Sarah E. Mills, 21, was killed when the 2019 Honda Civic she was driving collided with a 2000 Ford F-350 and then a 2016 Freightliner.
The Ford F-350 served as a marked Franklin Volunteer Fire Department emergency vehicle. The firefighter driving that vehicle was struck by a vehicle during the crash and serious, but non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. There is no word on his condition at this time.
The crash occurred on I-85 near mile marker 35, which is approximately two miles east of Franklin at approximately 6:00 a.m.
Mills was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division is continuing to investigate.
