UPDATE: Homicide victim reportedly called 911 and said someone was shooting at him

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - A man who is believed to be homeless was shot and killed at a Columbus park earlier this morning.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan confirmed that 44-year-old Kendrick Young died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Coroner Bryan says a shooting took place at Water Works Park, located at Veterans Pkwy. and 18th St., at approximately 7:00 a.m.

Young reportedly called 911 and said someone was shooting at him. When officers arrived on the scene, they found Young lying on the ground.

There is no word on any suspects at this time.

Young has no known next of kin. His body is being sent for an autopsy.
