COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Hundreds of cars lined up at the Columbus Civic Center last night for a new way to trick-or-treat at the Spooktacular Trunk or Treat event.
Cars drove through the Civc Center parking lot as city and community organizations put candy in their trunk in order to stay socially distant.
Dayna Solomon with the Muscogee County Adult Drug Court says they participate in the event every year.
She says events like these are especially important for families driving through to interact with one another in the car as well as with the different departments giving out candy.
“We’ve been able to pass out candy to kids. We’ve been able to put pamphlets in vehicles about what we’re doing so we get the information out there, but the best thing is just interacting with the community. The participants from our program have been driving by and we’ve been able to interact with them like that and their children,” said Solomon.
This event was originally supposed to be held Saturday evening, but was rescheduled for Sunday due to bad weather.
