COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Feeding the Valley and the Community Warriors partnered up once again to give out much-needed items for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Feeding the Valley held a drive-thru mobile pantry food distribution at the Columbus Civic Center over the weekend.
With COVID-19 still on the rise and the pandemic still impacting employment across the Chattahoochee Valley, organizers say this was one of their busiest events. Synovus representatives, police officers and other organizations helped give out food.
“Well, it’s the holiday season, corona has gotten worse, a lot of people aren’t able to go to work; financially, people are hurting and this is the best thing that Feeding the Valley and the Community Warriors can do,” said City Councilor and Community Warrior Mimi Woodson.
People started lining up at the Civic Center around 6:00 a.m. for the event which started at 9:00 a.m. Volunteers passed out food until everything was gone.
