COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The auxiliary at Piedmont Columbus Regional celebrated life achievements Friday.
They celebrated the life of the NICU graduates and also did their annual tree lighting.
Due to COVID-19, the event was done differently. They hosted a drive-thru parade instead of being in the conference room. The NICU graduates and families drove through and received a special ornament and treats. They were also greeted by auxiliary members and Santa and Mrs. Claus.
“We find ourselves in the times of what we could consider great darkness,” said Bob Ottman, president of Piedmont Columbus Regional’s auxiliary. “So, the auxiliary, an incredible volunteer organization here at Piedmont, is the light and we are the light here tonight as we celebrate with our partners at the NICU the lives of children that have kind of come through.”
This was the 40th year the auxiliary has lit the tree and 28 years for the celebration of life. The auxiliary organization is also looking for volunteers. To join, visit Piedmont Columbus Regional’s website.
