COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - A long-time educator known across the Chattahoochee Valley has died.
Willie Watts, Jr. died in Atlanta on Christmas day.
The 70-year-old retired as assistant principal at Kendrick high School in Columbus with over 40 years of service. He also taught science and coached football at South Girard Junior High School.
Watts even taught Phenix City Mayor Eddie Lowe when he was a teenager. They maintained a relationship until his death, according to Lowe.
A funeral for Watts will be held Monday. There will be no public viewing.
