Voter turnout rally over the weekend encourages Columbus voters to head to the polls

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The Urban League of Greater Columbus and Black Voters Matter hosted a non-partisan drive in musical explosion and voter turnout rally at the Columbus Civic Center Sunday.

The concert featured national recording artists Angie Stone and gospel singer Lyandria Johnson. Both artists were in town for the “Get Out and Vote” concert and performed their top hits.

People were able to attend this event from their vehicles to maintain proper COVID-19 safety procedures.

“There is still a lot of voting to do, there’s a lot of outcomes to get. This is about the future of the state, the future of the country. All eyes are on Georgia right now, so we’ve got to make sure that we step up and come out and show up at the polls on Tuesday,” said one man who attended the event.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama even made a virtual appearance to encourage the crowd to vote in the upcoming runoff election.
