ATLANTA, Ga. (WTVM) - Georgia Governor Brian Kemp is thanking Senator David Perdue for his six years of service in the U.S. Senate.
“A political outsider, Senator Perdue fought for our nation’s military and veterans, championed our great farmers, and helped us navigate the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis,” said Gov. Kemp in a Facebook post.
Sen. Perdue was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2014 and began his time in Congress in Jan. 2015.
Gov. Kemp is also congratulating Jon Ossoff, the man who defeated Sen. Perdue in a tight race for the U.S. Senate seat.
The Republican governor is also pledging to work with Ossoff, a Democrat, to serve the people of Georgia and put hardworking Georgians first.
