RUSSELL COUNTY, Ala. (WTVM) - An inmate at the Russell County Jail has committed suicide, according to Sheriff Heath Taylor.
Sheriff Taylor reports that James Jennings was found dead in his cell this afternoon.
Jennings appeared in court this morning on a charge of possession of controlled substances - methamphetamine. He was fed lunch after returning from court. He was then found deceased in his cell at approximately 3:00 p.m.
Sheriff Taylor says that the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is conducting an investigation and his office is conducting one alongside them.’
It is not believed at this time that any foul play is involved.
