COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Family and friends of Columbus’ first homicide victim of 2021 held a candlelight vigil and balloon release Friday in his honor.
Everyone gathered to bring encouraging words and memories of Damien Nesbitt. Members of his church read a Bible scripture followed by prayer from his mother.
Damien Nesbitt’s pastor encourages anybody to speak up if they know anything about the homicide.
“Cody wasn’t perfect and none of us are, not even I, but we have a God to glorify today because if God hadn’t used Codi out here in these streets, all of you all wouldn’t be here today, amen,” said Pastor Alicia Nesbitt, Damien Nesbitt’s mother.
Some people who attended the vigil gave kind words and someone also brought gifts.
