46th annual Columbus NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet held virtually

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The 46th annual NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet was held Friday, but differently due to COVID-19.

The event usually takes place at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center. It was held held virtually this year. Trilogy Production Studios hosted the event.

Mayors form both Columbus and Phenix City were in attendance. There were also performances from many local artists.

“With all that’s going on in the world and in the state, in the United States, you know we had to do something, said Wane Hailes, president of the NAACP Columbus branch. “I think it’s really important for our community to see the new leadership of the Columbus branch NAACP. So, all of that in terms of what we’re trying to do, what we’re trying to do in Columbus, Georgia, and then provide for this program should be exciting.”

Michael Soul Muhammad with Davis Broadcasting hosted the event.
