Two indicted nearly one year after LaGrange man’s body found in the road

LAGRANGE, Ga. (WTVM) - Two people are behind bars and facing multiple charges nearly one year after a man’s body was found lying in the road.

An initial investigation by the Georgia State Patrol found that Binion was likely hit by a vehicle while walking down the road. In April, the GSP turned the case over to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office because they found no evidence that he had been struck by a vehicle.

The Troup County Sheriff’s Office later identified two people involved in Binion’s death: 36-year-old Michael Joshua Eugene Richardson and 24-year-old Crystal Michelle Carothers.

Richardson is being charged with felony murder, malice murder and aggravated assault.

Carothers is being charged with hindering the apprehension and or punishment of a criminal and making false statements.

Both Richardson and Carothers were indicted on those charges by a Troup County grand jury on Monday.
