COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The River Center for the Performing Arts in Columbus partnered with the American Red Cross Wednesday for a community blood drive.
Donors were entered to win two tickets to the Super Bowl with airfare and hotel included. Another prize was a huge TV with a $500 gift card, and in partnership with Char-Broil, they are giving three-burner gas grill to another winner.
“What will happen is after you get checked through and the medical history is taken, you go and if you chose to give a pint of blood, that’s one type of giving you can do,” said Norman Easterbrook, executive director and CEO of the River Center. “It’s very quick, it’s painless, and it’s very much worth doing. And then there’s another thing that’s called the power red donation that you can do, and power red they harvest the red blood cells.”
The River Center was open until 7 p.m. The Rive rCenter will have another blood drive tat will be focused on sickle cell patients.
