COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Local organizations came together in Columbus Monday to commemorate the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday by participating in a day of service.

Keep Columbus Beautiful, Turn Around Columbus, and Dragonfly Trails held the annual MLK serve-a-thon.

“Today is all about community service and honoring Dr. Martin Luther King,” said Charnae Ware, executive director of Keep Columbus Beautiful. “We want to make sure we keep our city clean and beautiful as he done such a thing for our nation.”

More than 100 people participated in cleaning the MLK Learning Trail while learning the history behind the trail.
